Summer is here! The temperature has risen, I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t quite believe it’s June.
Lots has been going on at Hoof & Paws. I can’t quite keep up, from a new service, to a new way of keeping up to date.. even a Free Event.
Behind the scenes, our usual pet care services are still here for all species, but we’ve seen the expansion of our training services from the end of last year into this year, and I couldn’t be happier.
Let’s share a bit about what’s going on..
1:1 Training and Behaviour sessions.
Living with a dog who is struggling with their behaviour can be frustrating, overwhelming, and sometimes isolating. Whether you’re dealing with reactivity, anxiety, fear-based behaviours, overexcitement, or challenges at home or out on walks, we’re here to help.
At Hoof & Paws, Jess and Millie provide professional 1:1 behaviour support tailored to both you and your dog. As highly trained, vetted, and approved professionals, we are committed to understanding the reasons behind your dog’s behaviour, rather than simply addressing the symptoms.
We continually invest in our education and stay up to date with the latest research and developments in canine behaviour and learning. While we’ve completed more courses than we could ever list, our greatest passion is helping owners better understand what their dogs are communicating.
Behaviour is communication. By improving the understanding between you and your dog, we can help create lasting change, build confidence, and strengthen your relationship for years to come.
Classes: Scent Scouts – Scent Work
Scent Scouts is designed for curious, busy-brained dogs who need an outlet that truly works with their natural instincts, not against them. It’s ideal for energetic puppies, rescue dogs with a history, and dogs who struggle in traditional training classes, there is no shame or judgement. Here, every dog belongs
In these sessions, your dog taps into their strongest natural skill: their nose.
You’ll see them focus, problem-solve, succeed, and settle, using both their brain and body in a deeply rewarding way.
Unlike traditional scent classes that rely on line-ups or tubes, Scent Scouts uses the environment itself. Challenges are adapted to the dog in front of us, allowing each dog to work at their own level. Beginners and experienced scent dogs are equally welcome.
Classes: Leash & Learn
Leash and Learn is real-world dog training for all dogs that find everyday walks more challenging than they should be.
If your dog pulls on the lead, struggles to focus, becomes over-excited, ignores recall or lacks engagement with you, this class is for you.
We train in the places you actually walk, not just a training hall, so your dog can learn calm, workable skills where it truly matters.
We tackle real-life challenges like loose lead walking, engagement around distractions, over-arousal, recall, and building better communication between you and your dog.
You’ll get clear, practical coaching and achievable steps that help both you and your dog feel more confident on walks.
This isn’t about perfection or obedience for obedience’s sake. It’s about helping your dog cope better with the world and helping you enjoy your walks again.
We’ve built more than just classes we’ve built a community – with WhatsApp communities for our Scent Scouts and our Leash & Learn, meaning our clients have support outside our classes, have the chance to ask us questions, and are building connections with other owners too.

Honestly, keeping everyone up to date is mission, and I don’t want anyone to miss out on important updates, news, and exciting things we have coming up .. so something needed to change, last month (end of May) we launched a newsletter.

One Last Note for all Pet owners, June is Microchip Month – with many of us taking trips, places we walk being busier than usual, rates of missing pets can skyrocket across the summer holidays. it is important that those Microchip details are kept up to date to ensure a pet safely returned home.
