its a fun time of year for many, but think of it from your pet’s perspective..
Humans become unreadable with masks/makeup and odd-looking costumes..
When people repeatedly turn up at the door and groups of scary people enter their homes.
Your pet’s stress levels can rise.
Bites can seemingly come from nowhere; often, this is when we are called by stressed and upset owners.
Often we are so busy enjoying ourselves, those signs of stress can be missed.
Signs of stress can be easily missed:
Pacing/Restlessness.
Heavy Breathing.
Excessive Licking.
Hiding and trying to escape.
More Vocialisation.
Loss of Appeitite.
This is our top tips to keep you and your pets safe and avoid bites happening.
- Keep Pets behind close door when answering the door.
- Ensure your Pets are wearing a Collar and Tag.
- Consider silencing your doorbell.
- Provide your Pet with calming activities – Things to Chew, Lick and Sniff.
- Provide them with safe quiet place to go.
- Watch out for warning signals your Pet may be struggling.
- Keep your Pets away from snacks and Decorations that they could eat.
- Avoid walking Dogs during time when trick or treaters are out.
- Be mindful that there may be fireworks too.
Halloween should be full of treats, not tricks for our pets with some thoughtful planning, you can have a fun, safe and stress-free Halloween for all the family.
